Liza brings a diverse range of experience in both teaching and curriculum development. Her professional journey in education began during her student years, when tutoring first served as a way to supplement her income. Over time, sharing her knowledge and witnessing the progress of her students became Liza’s primary motivation.

Through the Erasmus+ international program, Liza earned her Master’s degree in Education, Research, and Innovation. This program focused on higher education management and the teaching-learning process. The knowledge and experience she gained there significantly shaped her reflective and student-centered approach to teaching.

In 2019-2020, Liza worked as an English Language Teaching Assistant in Denmark, where she was actively involved in planning and implementing the educational process. She also held the position of Head of Educational Programs at the Tbilisi School of Communication, where she contributed to course development and the improvement of learning structures. During this period, she deepened her insights into student needs, curriculum design, and effective lesson planning.

Currently, Liza teaches students in grades 8-12 at Buckswood International School, working with learners of various levels and educational needs. Simultaneously, she serves as a tutor for university students and adults, supporting them in various areas: academic instruction, preparation for national and certification exams, professional development, and improving everyday communication.

Online English Courses at Upward Academy

Liza will lead two distinct English courses at Upward:

• English for Beginners: This course is designed for those just starting their journey. Throughout the program, students will learn grammatical foundations and basic language structures. Special attention is given to developing reading skills, which helps students comprehend texts, build vocabulary, and increase their confidence.

• Conversational English (B1/B2+): This course is for those who already have a foundation in English but struggle to use it actively in real-life situations. The primary focus is on improving speaking skills so that students can express their thoughts freely and naturally.

Teaching Process and Philosophy

As Liza notes, the learning process throughout her courses is student-centered and context-based. When selecting themes, examples, and study materials, special attention is paid to the students’ interests, needs, and motivations.

“Feedback is an integral part of the teaching process. I view teaching as a two-way street – a process where learning happens on both sides: I teach, but I also learn a lot from my students. Mistakes are acceptable and even desirable, as they are an essential part of learning and growth.”

Liza believes that teaching is most effective when both parties are actively involved. Motivation, openness, and curiosity significantly enrich the learning experience. Her advice to future students is simple: do not be afraid of making mistakes, as they are a necessary part of progress and development.
