Meet UPWARD’s Student: Tamar Tevzadze

Asian culture and languages no longer represent an unfamiliar world. They open doors to a wide range of diverse experiences and professional opportunities. In this blog, you will meet Tamar Tevzadze, an UPWARD student who aspires to become a Chinese-speaking tour guide.

Tamar lived in China for a certain period and already had a basic knowledge of the language. To achieve her set goal and deepen her knowledge, she joined UPWARD. As she notes, one of the main challenges during the learning process turned out to be memorizing characters (hieroglyphs). However, the time dedicated and the right approach quickly yielded results.

During the language learning process, Tamar found the logic of Chinese words particularly fascinating. Specifically, the same word can have several different meanings depending on its tone and context. For example, the word 天 (tiān) unites concepts such as heaven, god, day, and week. These meanings are closely linked to one another in substance.

This academic year, UPWARD funded several students to take the official Chinese language proficiency exam. Tamar was one of them. Winning the exam funding was a very joyful moment for her. It was not just financial support; it was a sign of trust and hope expressed by the lecturer and the company, accompanied by a great sense of responsibility.

Her hopes were truly justified, and Tamar managed to pass the HSK1 exam with maximum scores! This is also a major success for UPWARD—the academy’s effective teaching methodology and quality are clearly reflected in the results. Along this path, Tamar was guided by her lecturer, Tatia Karkhashadze.

Tatia strives to accommodate the students’ abilities and desires as much as possible, thereby teaching them as much as she can. According to Tamar, throughout the course, the students significantly enriched their vocabulary and acquired diverse knowledge that will definitely come in handy at higher levels.

The HSK1 certificate is only the beginning—Tamar’s new goal is to master the Chinese language up to at least the HSK4 level and pass that exam. She wants to be able to communicate fluently in this language and express her thoughts on any topic. This will be a solid step forward toward the profession of a Chinese-speaking guide.

Thus, on the path toward your goals, UPWARD will serve as a reliable guide and turn difficult challenges into exciting adventures. Join us!
